In the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation Chance Studios acknowledges, as white settlers committed to anti-racism work, that we live, work, and play in the Treaty 7 Territory region of Southern Alberta. Prior to the Treaty signing in 1877 and to this present day, this land is sacred to many Indigenous Peoples who are the original occupants and stewards of this land.

Treaty 7 encompasses the traditional lands of the Îyârhe Nakoda Nations of Chiniki, Wesley, and Bearspaw, the Tsuut’ina First Nations, the Kainai, Siksika, and Piikani nations of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) Confederacy, and Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III.

A local book we’ve found integral to our continued learning is

These Mountains Are Our Sacred Places by Chief John Snow.

A more national perspective has been gleaned from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada
